Articles and E-zines

I picked the easiest of the marketing methods to start with, Articles, or E-zines as these are often known. There's a whole bunch of different types of these floating around but the basic process for useing these goes something like this:
  1. Write an interesting article about something related to your website or one that simply talks up your website.
  2. Publish the article on the internet in as many places as you can (ezine.com, squidoo.com, isnare.com are good places to start).
  3. Put a link on the article that points to your web page.
Follow this process and hopefully you'll end up with lots of people finding the article through Google or other search engines. The reader will then be so engrossed by what they've read in your article that they'll immediatly click on the link to your webpage. Having a link on these sites also helps by boosting the Google PageRank for the website they point to.

Of course once their on the webpage its only a matter of time before they'll click on an ad and hence make you some money. Beautiful and simple isn't it.

This is just the beginners coverage because thats what I am. I'll add another post about this once I've played around with articles a bit more. For now you can entertain yourself by having a look at a couple of the articles I've written and published on Squidoo.com:
These both point towards Travel to New Zealand, a little webpage I created to help demonstrate what I'm doing on this blog. If you have any questions about the process or the articles I've written then please feel free to leave me a comment.

Generating some Traffic

As it turns out having a web page with some advertising on it doesn't instantly make you an internet millionaire. It makes you some blonker with a webpage and some ads. Not particularly exciting, nor the aim of this little adventure. In order to actually get those ads to start earning me some cash I'm going to need people viewing my webpage.

From the research I've done so far I've discovered a few different ways of doing this each with its own advantages and disadvantages. I figure I'll need to use every method in the book to get people reading this rather unexciting blog and so, you, my loyal and devoted readers can hopefully learn all these techniques through me.
  • Search Engine Traffic
  • Referal Sites
  • Payed Advertising
  • Forum Posts
  • Write an Article
  • Social Net Working Sites
Okey so theres probably a through more techniques than I can cover straight away so I'll do each of these as a new post over the next week or so. Happy reading!

Adsense, up, up, and away!

Well that was way too easy.
In the space of the afternoon I've signed up for Google Adsense, and added a Google search bar and an ad space to my blog. I was expecting a long drawn out process to get approval from google and an even more tedious time creating code for the web blog.

As it turns out the approval process happened in just a few hours, and the codeing is all done using a step by step wizard with the only tricky bit being deciding on what colour scheme you want to use. High five to google for making this easy.

Supposebly all I need to do now is wait for the money to start rolling on in....

The Google Machine

Google is a machine. I mean this in the entirely admirable sense of Google being an unstoppable juggernaught that does not tire. I'm yet to determine if Google is an entity for good or evil, but I have decided that to be involved in the internet, one is inavoidably involved with Google.

For internet users google offers every service imaginable from picture and video shareing through to advertising and marketing, from page building to blog hosting, Google does it all. Oh sure, other companies are doing exactly the same thing but this is primarily following where google has been before.

So for me Google is an obvious place to start my quest to take a slice of the internet marketing pie for myself. For marketers Google offers an easy way to start generating a revenue stream through its adsense programme. Adsense allows you to add google ads, google search, and google referrals to your website. Each of these is a different way of generating money for a website.

Hopefully by the time I've posted my next entry I'll have signed up for AdSense and added some ads to this site.

In the beginning....

In the beginning there was an internet, then came the makers of internet content, and then at the end there were the internet marketers.

Today I'm uncovering what an internet marketer is and how these ingenious folks are taking a chunk of the multi-billion dollar marketing budgets being thrown at the internet. I'm going to start from square one, knowing only that there is an internet, and that there is also money here in. I'm hopeing that I can uncover the great secrets of internet marketing and earn my income in so doing.

I've quit my job, I've bought myself a computer, and have given myself 4 months to make something out of nothing.

Wish me luck people because I'm sure as heck going to need it.
